Top Ten Tuesday | Songs I Wish Were Books

Today is Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted over on The Broke and The Bookish. This week is all about music, so I went with 10 Songs I Wish Were Books.

A Drop in the Ocean – Ron Pope

Oh god, this song. I love it so much, although it’s got a kind of sad vibe. The song is purely about this guy that loves this girl so much, but the feeling isn’t fully reciprocated and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter. He’s having trouble letting her go because she’s his everything. Probably done before, but you know, I just love this song so darn much.

Light in the Hallway – Pentatonix

If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I am a major Pentaholic. I love their voices so much it may border on creepy. Anyway, this is one of my favorite songs off the album because it’s absolutely beautiful. Avi got to take the solo on this one, and the melody is haunting (in a good way of course!). It’s got the vibe of a lullaby, and it talks about always being there, being someone’s rock to help chase away their fears and be there for them when they need you.

Angel with a Shotgun – The Cab

I personally haven’t read a ton of books about angels. I’ve wanted to, but never got around to it. If you go with the literal meaning of the song, the book would be about an angel, or angels, going to war for love. Selfish love, their true love, they’d be willing to give up their wings if it meant being with the person they want. I adore this song so much, and a book may have already been written about it. Either way, a war of angels fighting over love sounds cool. Also, if there was a book written based on the title of this album alone, I’d snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Neverland – VanLadyLove

Ok, I know that there are already songs about the Neverland that they sing about in this song. I just love it [the song] so much, I wouldn’t mind seeing another one! Ooooh or what if there was a Neverland that adults (or maybe a select few) could go to at will? Like, if they were dire need or something? I’d read it.

Twin Skeleton’s (Hotel in NYC) – Fall Out Boy

Favorite song off of their latest album, I think. I get a Bonnie and Clyde vibe from it, and I think it’d be cool if there was a book written about a couple (either Bonnie and Clyde or like them) that essentially haunts this hotel. By day, they’re living, breathing people, and by night, they revert back to this skeleton/ghost thing. Or maybe the more they sin, the more their souls decay (kind of like Dorian Gray).

Love Again – Pentatonix

One of my favorite lines in this song starts out “Taste the pain right on my tongue.” This song is basically about loving someone who doesn’t know how to love you back, and in return, all they cause you is pain. What if every time someone hurt you, they could taste the pain they caused you, like poison?

Aha! – Imogen Heap/Pentatonix

I honestly have no idea what this song is about. I think it’s commercialism, backstabbing, and a few other things. The original version by Imogen Heap is so creepy and while the PTX version isn’t at creepy, the video definitely is. I think this would make a good book kind of along the lines of PLL.

Under the Water – The Pretty Reckless

This book would be about abuse and growing up to fast without a family support system. I love this song, and the lyrics are haunting (I feel like I say that about a lot of the songs I picked). The song is full of so much raw emotion. I’d love to read it.

Sweet Things – The Pretty Reckless

Ok, this song is creepy. As. Hell. From what I can gather, it’s about giving in to your desires and your “sins.” The whole evil knocking on your door thing reminds me of supernatural. I’d love to read about like…a countdown to the devil coming to claim your soul or something, but you don’t know what form he’s going to take. (Like the part of the song where they talk about sweet things.) Creepy, but I’d read it. (Sick of reading that yet? lol)

Roses and Violets -Alexander Jean

The book for this song would just be a nice, mushy contemporary novel. I honestly don’t have too much to say other than I love the lyrics and emotion in it. The song is about not wanting to be away from the person you love, and when you are, it sucks. lol I’d love to read it as a novel, with the title Roses and Violets.

Pentatonix! I put New Year’s Day on my list 🙂 That song by The Cab would be so great as a book. Symphony Soldier is so good, I’m sure a lot of those songs would translate well to page. I really wanted to include a Fall Out Boy song, but they have so many and I got overwhelmed trying to choose just one so I gave up completely lol.
    Here’s my TTT.

New Year’s Day was definitely in the running! It was hard to narrow this list down to 10 songs. I wanted to include every song ever by PTX and FOB. lol
