March 2017 Wrap Up

Sooooo I dropped the ball and didn’t finish my post for my March Wrap Up. Sorry about that! In my defense though, my best friend and I decided to stop talking about going on vacation and finally do it and I’ve been planning it ever since, haha. Anywho, I’m currently dog-sitting for my other best friend and I decided to sit down and crank out a wrap up post for you guys.

I’d say that I did a decent amount of reading last month (though not as good as I’ve done in the past). Right now I have no clue what I want to read, so I’m in a bit of a rut. šŸ˜› Enough of my jibber jabbering though. Let’s get to those books! Continue reading

February 2017 TBR

I’m only making myself a TBR because right now I’m flailing around with no idea what to read now that I’ve finished The Grisha Trilogy and Six of Crows Duology. Soooo I decided to make myself an extremely tentative TBR for this month. As you’re all well aware, I’m being Ā careful with forcing myself to read books. This is just for direction (and I’m going to keep telling myself that, haha).

You didn’t come here for my ramblings though. Let’s get to the books! Continue reading

January 2017 Wrap-Up

Ok, I have to say it. Where did January go?? I can’t believe that we’re already in February. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun, hahaha. Ā This month was a pretty decent month in terms of reading as well as blogging for me. I’m tentatively getting back into the swing of things, picking up books, and putting them down when I’m not feeling them (only one book this month). Let’s see what I did, shall we? Continue reading

How-est Did Thou Find-est Moi? | Romeo & What’s Her Name Critique

RomeoRating:Ā 3.5 Teacups
Title: Romeo & Whatā€™s Her Name
Author: Shani Petroff
Publisher: Swoon Reads
Publication Date: February 7, 2017
Format: eBook
# of Pages: 224
Synopsis:

Understudies never get to perform

. . . which is why being Juliet’s understudy in the school’s yearly “Evening with Shakespeare” is the perfect role for Emily. She can earn some much-needed extra credit while pursuing her main goal of spending time with Wes, aka Romeo, aka the hottest, nicest guy in school (in her completely unbiased opinion). And she meant to learn her lines, really, it’s just:
a) Shakespeare is HARD,
b) Amanda, aka the “real” Juliet, makes her run errands instead of lines, and
c) there’s no point because Amanda would never miss the chance to be the star of the show.

Then, Amanda ends up in the hospital and Emily, as the (completely unprepared!) understudy, has to star opposite the guy of her dreams. Oops? Continue reading

Critique Quickie | Beautiful Secret by Christina Lauren

Beautiful SecretRating:Ā 3.5 Teacups
Title: Beautiful Secret (Beautiful Bastard #4)
Author: Christina Lauren
Publisher: Gallery Books
Publication Date: April 14, Ā 2015
Format: Kindle
# of Pages: 401

As we all know, I absolutely adore the Beautiful Bastard series. For whatever reason, it took me forever to pick this one up. After finishing the book, I can safely say that it was not my favorite book in the series. It started off kind of slow, and I didnā€™t feel the same connection to Niall and Ruby as I did with any of the other couples. It started off slow and took absolutely forever to get heated up. They donā€™t properly do the sexy time until about ā…” of the way through the book and then things hit the fan for seemingly no reason (at least in my opinion). I do have to say that I liked the depth they gave Niall, and how pitiful he is because of his marriage to Portia. I completely understood his reservations with Ruby because he didnā€™t know any better. Compared to the rest of the group, these two are like a couple of old people (no offense to the elderly!) and I really didnā€™t find this book as sexy as the others. There might be a couple of spoilers when they do meet the others in the group, but for the most part, you will have no problem following everything thatā€™s going on. They moved the series to an entirely different country, haha.

Anticipated Releases – Updated

So in case you missed it, on Tuesday I participated in Top Ten Tuesday and shared seven of my most anticipated releases for the next six months. Well, yesterday I was going through the ARCs I got from BookCon again, and found samplers that I completely forgot I had.

Ironically enough, there are three of them that really stood out to me, bringing my grand total up to ten! I’m really looking forward to these, probably more so than most of the books in my original post. Crazy, right?

Once again, these are in order of their publication date, Ā the covers are links to Goodreads, and if you hover over the cover, you’ll see the description (I hope). Continue reading

Mini Critique | The Love that Split the World by Emily Henry (Spoiler-Free)

I decided to try a new format with this review; instead of writing out full paragraphs, I wanted to keep my thoughts concise (hopefully) and write everything out in a bullet points. I think it worked out nicely. Let me know what you think! *cringes and hopes it goes well*

Natalieā€™s last summer in her small Kentucky hometown is off to a magical start… until she starts seeing the ā€œwrong things.ā€ Theyā€™re just momentary glimpses at firstā€”her front door is red instead of its usual green, thereā€™s a pre-school where the garden store should be. But then her whole town disappears for hours, fading away into rolling hills and grazing buffalo, and Nat knows something isnā€™t right.

Thatā€™s when she gets a visit from the kind but mysterious apparition she calls ā€œGrandmother,ā€ who tells her: ā€œYou have three months to save him.ā€ The next night, under the stadium lights of the high school football field, she meets a beautiful boy named Beau, and itā€™s as if time just stops and nothing exists. Nothing, except Natalie and Beau. Continue reading

5 Teacups

19547856I am so excited that this was a five-star read because this book is absolutely adorable. Iā€™d heard it raved about all over BookTube, so of course I was off to the library to see if I could get my hands on it. I am so glad I did, because I fell in love with Simon and his quirky cast of friends and family.

The story starts off as Simon is blackmailed, but he shrugs it off and muddles his way through life figuring out how to deal with his sexuality, his friends, his family, and the grammatically correct cutie heā€™s emailing known as Blue. The thing that I liked best about this book was how real and relatable the characters were. They talked about real issues that teens deal with in a way that teens actually talk. Continue reading
